Celebrating Hospice Social Worker Month

March is National social worker appreciation month. Hospice social workers play a crucial role in the care of patients and families during the end of life journey. Dealing with and preparing for the death of a loved one can be difficult . There is a lot of duty involved in preparing for their death to ensure they can rest in peace.

Social worker services make the journey easier for the patient and family. Social work requires passion, advocacy, exceptional problem solving skill, acute listening and strong communication skills. Patients and families nearing the end of life may face a variety of social, emotional and practical issues that hospice social workers can help with.

Hospice care will be incomplete without a social worker. Hope hospice salutes and thanks to social workers everywhere, especially our own social workers who are making a real difference in people's lives at every stage of the human journey.
